Changes in the oral mucosa
Changes in the oral mucosa are often identified incidentally during a visit to the dentist or GP.
Red or white changes or darkening may indicate a malignant process. All changes should therefore be carefully examined. For this purpose, we have established a special oral mucosa clinic, where we examine patients on an interdisciplinary basis in consultation with a dermatologist. It is often necessary to take tissue samples during this process which are then examined under a microscope by a pathologist. Therapy is prescribed according to the findings. After thereapy, patients are advised to have annual follow-ups.
